Strip Heaters are made up of a heating element, a protective sheath and mounting hardware. The Strip Heater is mounted on a surface and used to heat the surface, air, liquid or gases. Strip Heaters are ideal for many industrial applications. Southern Heat offers multiple variations of strip heaters including Mica Strip Heaters and Channel Strip Heaters.

Mica Strip Heaters
Mica Strip Heaters are constructed by winding a nickel-chrome resistance ribbon around mica insulation and encapsulated in a stainless steel sheath. They are available in an extensive variety of sizes and shapes with options for holes, notches and cut-outs. A number of threaded terminals, wire lead options and terminal boxes offer great flexibility for field wiring. With temperature capabilities of up to 900°F, these heaters are ideal for plastic processing applications and for anywhere heat is needed on a flat or curved surface.
Ceramic Channel Strip Heaters
Ceramic Insulated Channel Strip Heaters can attain higher temperatures up to 1200°F (650°C) than mica heaters, and can withstand contamination better than mica strip heaters. Channel Strip Heaters have been proven to be extremely efficient and dependable as a heat source for surface heating in hundreds of industrial applications. For surface mounting installations, Channel Strip Heaters should be securely clamped along their entire length to a smooth, flat surface.
Finned Strip Heaters
Ceramic Insulated Finned Channel Strip Heaters are ideal for both forced air in a duct and natural convection air heating in a cabinet type oven. The Finned Strip Heater’s basic design consists of a helically wound resistance coil placed in a specifically designed ceramic insulator. The resistance coil is mechanically connected to the screw terminal for positive connection. Stainless steel rectangular tubing is used to house the heater assembly. All remaining voids are filled with high purity magnesium oxide to increase thermal conductivity and dielectric strength.
